Biography
Dr. Christian Schetter is Vice President,
Research & Development at Coley Pharmaceutical Group, Inc., Wellesley,
Massachusetts and Managing Director of Coley Pharmaceutical GmbH in
Langenfeld, Germany. Dr. Schetter joined Coley from the Max Planck
Institute for Biochemistry in Martinsried, Germany in May 1998 to
establish the European operations of Coley. He is responsible for
the planning and organization of all research and development activities
in Europe and helped to secure significant funding from the German
Government for Coley's internal and external research activities.
In his role as Managing Director of the German operations Dr. Schetter
is an integral part of Coley's global management team assuring optimal
coordination between all sites.
Dr. Schetter received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Virology
from the institute of Genetics at the University of Cologne working
on aspects of CpG methylation patterns in vertebrate genomes. Between
1994 and 1996 he did postdoctoral work in oncology and retrovirology
at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California before joining
the Max-Planck Institute for Biochemistry in Munich to work on certain
aspects of viral gene therapy using adeno-associated virus as vectors.
