Biography
Thorsten Benner is Associate Director of the Global
Public Policy Institute (www.globalpublicpolicy.net),
an independent, non-profit think thank based in Berlin.
From 2001-2003 he was a McCloy Scholar at the Kennedy School of Government,
Harvard University where he received a Master in Public Administration
(MPA). He studied political science, history and sociology at the
University of Siegen (Germany), the University of York (UK) and the
University of California at Berkeley. Until June 2001, he was a Policy
Analyst at the Office of Development Studies, United Nations Development
Programme, New York. Prior to joining UNDP, he was a Research Fellow
with the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), Berlin and a
Research Associate with the Global Public Policy Project, Washington
D.C.. In 2002, he was a Summer Associate with McKinsey & Co.,
Berlin.
In his academic and professional work over the past years, he has
focused on transatlantic relations, international organizations and
new forms of governance at the interface of the public sector, civil
society and business.
The Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) which he co-founded in 2002
explores and supports innovative answers to complex governance challenges
bringing together all key players: governments, parliaments, international
organizations, civil society organizations as well as businesses.
