Introduction

Conference Objectives

The goal of the conference is to introduce public policies for promoting entrepreneurship on a comparative German-American level. The event contributes to the debate on the role of public policies in stimulating regional economic growth.

The conference aims to strengthen contacts between German and American enterprises, professionals and researchers and to provide a platform for initiating future projects and cooperation.
A major objective of the conference is also to strengthen networks between academic research and applied politics. Researchers as well as professionals from business, government, non-governmental institutions as well as associations are invited to share their results, views, and experiences.

Conference Topics

For several years now, scientific research provides us with empirical data worldwide about the significant relationship between entrepreneurship and regional as well as national economic development. In addition, the process of globalization continues and challenges us to evaluate existing public and economic policies for start-ups on a global scale in order to develop and re-design innovative policies for entrepreneurs to survive and succeed on a local scale.

Against this background, conference topics will include the following areas:

  • Entrepreneurship Policies Made in Germany and the U.S.
  • Globalization and Regionalization: Challenges for Public Policies
  • Monitoring Entrepreneurship on a Global and Local Perspective
  • Case Study: The Automotive Cluster Eastern Germany
  • U.S. Government-Industry Partnerships for the Development of New Technologies
